Our mission is to enable individuals to restore and maintain their health with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Common TCM Techniques:
Acupuncture: This technique refers to the insertion of tiny needles into specifically defined acupoints, in order to stimulate the flow of energy or Qi, and restore the body’s natural balance. Acupoints are located along
the twelve meridians which link the organ systems and tissues. Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with a heat lamp and mild electrical stimulation.
Herbal Medicine: Herbal therapy for phototherapy utilizes herbs as well as minerals and metallic sources for healing. At East Acupuncture, our practitioners work with an herbalist. The practitioner will prescribe a course of treatment, and the herbalist will fill the prescription for the patient.
Moxibustion: Moxibustion involves the burning of the Chinese herb mugwort (Artemesiae Bulgaria) at specific acupoints to facilitate healing.
Cupping: Either heat or suction is used to create a partial vacuum in a cup that is placed on the skin. Capillary vessels- under the skin, and blood flow to the muscles are stimulated, the pores are opened, and blockages in the meridians are removed.
Exercise and Nutrition: Exercise and a well-balanced diet are important for health and wellbeing. East Acupuncture practitioners can recommend foods that may promote healing as well as improve the general quality of life. Exercise, such as Qigong and Taiji, are also highly recommended for most patients.
